Rahimatpur
The Shahi Masjid holds significant architectural, religious, and historical value. Built in the 16th century, it forms part of a larger complex comprising the mosque, a dargah, a central hauz, and a tomb. A later intervention introduced a sloping GI roof between the mosque and dargah to accommodate larger congregations. The mosque reflects the Indo-Islamic style of the Adil Shahi period, characterized by a spherical dome rising from a base of stylized petals, corner turrets with smaller domes, and pointed arches decorated with carved medallions and a chajja supported on stone brackets.
The proposed conservation strategy emphasizes minimal intervention, reversibility, and the use of compatible materials to ensure authenticity and stability. Key interventions include a Mangalore-tiled roof with aluminium fins and glass in the central space, rejuvenation of the hauz, sensitive landscaping, and monument illumination to enhance its historic and spatial character.
